With Ramgo International Corporation’s bids of becoming the No. 1 seed producing company in the country, and of continuing to bring the best and highest quality seeds to Filipino growers, Ramgo launched its very first Research Station- the Polomolok Research Station (PRS).

Foreign suppliers, government officials from the Department of Agriculture (DA), members from Agricultural Organizations, seed distributors, members of the Academe, members of the Press, and other guests from all over the country made up the exclusive 200 person guest list. The Inauguration of said Polomolok Research Station (PRS) was held on October 27-29, 2010 at Polomolok, South Cotabato. The three day  event comprised of the Reception Dinner (Oct.27); PRS blessing and Inauguration, City Tour, and Fellowship night (Oct.28); and Shopping spree (Oct. 29).

The event kicked off on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 with a reception dinner for all the delegates held at East Asia Royale’s Function room. The dinner highlighted “Ramgo Through the Years” in a video presentation showcasing the progress of the company in the Philippine seed industry. The video covered its establishment in 1986 to today as it launched its very own research station, proving to be one of the pioneers of serving the Filipino growers with the best and highest quality seeds for vegetable production. The reception dinner also served as a gathering for those delegates who are part of the seed industry business as they had the chance to personally meet and once again be united thru this event.

The heart of the Inauguration was on Thursday morning, October 28, 2010 as Ramgo first opened PRS to the public eyes. Inauguration began with the blessing of the research station, presided over by Fr. Ronilo Huesca. After the blessing, the visitors entered the station and witnessed the already-slated-for- commercial, potentially commercial, and yet-under-observation varietal crops that were undergoing evaluations at PRS. The performance of the varietal crops that were being tested includes 15 varieties of cucumber, 4 squash, six tomato, six eggplant, five ampalaya, six sweet corn, four watermelon, seven hot pepper, eight pole sitao, radish, patola, okra, and upo variety. After the tour, Ms. Pamela O. Chan, Vice President of Ramgo, gave a welcome and acknowledgement speech. Dr. Renato Mabesa, made the introduction for the Guest Speaker, Dr. Rene Rafael Espino, head of the High Value Commercial crops section of the Department of Agriculture. Dr. Espino commended Ramgo for establishing a research station that will surely help Filipino growers uplift production of best quality vegetable crops for the Filipinos. The establishment of the research station should definitely help the system of agriculture in the country as it focuses on sustainable agriculture that caters both the needs of the people and the environment.

The rest of the afternoon was delegated for the city tour for the visitors to witness and enjoy the best spots in General Santos City. The visitors went to enjoy the areas of Monastery located at the famous Mt. Matutum, Kalasangi’s good scenery, the famous Manny Pacquio’s Mansion, and the Isla Parilla were the fellowship night was held and were the delegates enjoyed the dinner while being serenaded by a famous band in GenSan.

October 29, the last of the three day event of Ramgo’s PRS Inauguration, was intended for the visitors to enjoy shopping of the famous tuna products such as Tuna Panga, Tuna Belly, and Tuna Longanisa in Cintra Mina and RDEX frozen tuna shops respectively. After the shopping, they took their lunch in Ranchero Grill and Restaurant and proceeded to the airport for their flight back to Manila.

That marked the end of the 3-day inauguration celebration of Ramgo’s Polomolok Research Station; but it also marks the first step of Ramgo International Corporation’s plan  to be the number 1 seed company in the Philippines by 2012.
